Printable Halloween Masks

These printable Halloween masks are fun and easy to make. As with all my craft ideas they have step-by-step instructions and photographs.

Halloween cats are popular with the little ones and this cool mask isn’t too scary. There are also some basic designs for you to use, these could be changed slightly to create a variety of different looks. There is a basic fox mask or you could make it in black card for a bat mask.

There is also a little devil mask or color it in green for a mischievous elf or imp. Use your imagination and see how many other ideas you can come up with.

You will need acrobat reader installed on your computer to view and print these templates. You can download it for free by clicking on the adobe reader button on the right.

Printing the Template

Most printers will allow you to print directly on to thin card. If you are using patterned card make sure that you print on the plain side. If your printer will only allow you to print on paper then there are a couple of different ways to transfer the template to card.

One way is to glue the paper template to the card you can use any type of glue suitable for paper. Spread the glue thinly across the card then lower the paper on top. Smooth out carefully removing any air bubbles. Make sure the glue is completely dry before cutting.

The other way will only work if you are printing a template that is easy to reproduce. Secure the paper to the card with tape, using a pencil and ruler if drawing straight lines, go over the lines on the template. Press hard enough to mark the card but not so hard you make holes in the paper.

Mia’s Top Tip

A black long sleeve t-shirt and a black pair of trouser make a great cat costume.

To complete the look get an old pair of black tights and fill one leg with rags.

Use the other leg to tie around the waist to hold in place.

Pull the black t-shirt down over the top of the tail.

Do the same in red for a little devil, or green for an imp.

The step-by-step instructions show how to make the cat mask as that is the hardest of all three. The others are much easier and just need to be cut out of card and attach the elastic.

The cat mask is much easier for kids to make themselves without adding the whiskers and looks just as good.

Printable Halloween Masks Instructions

The step-by-step instructions show how to make the cat mask as that is the hardest of all three. The others are much easier and just need to be cut out of card and attach the elastic.

Using the printable Halloween masks template cut out your masks from black paper or card.

Place the template back over your cut out shape.

Use paper clips to hold in place.

Using a knife or the point of your scissors cut out one of the eye shapes.

Cut out the other eye shape using the template as a guide.

Cut out the shapes from the template and fix them to your colored paper using paper clips.

Cut out the shapes and glue or stick them to your mask using the template as a guide.

Lay the template back over your mask and using a large needle or hole making tool.

Make a hole in the mask where each of the dots are on the template.

Use the embroidery thread to make the whiskers.

Tie a knot in the end of the thread and using the large needle thread through the hole from back to front.

Trim the thread and repeat for each hole.

Cut out a scrap piece of card or paper and glue or stick over the knotted ends of the whiskers.

Put a large piece of scrap paper underneath the whiskers and coat with PVA glue.

This will make the whiskers stiffer and less likely to droop.

Once the glue is dry, trim the whiskers to 2cm-3cm (approx 1") .

Tie elastic to the holes on the side of your mask and it is finished.

Mia’s Craft Ideas

Print out the template and change the design, if you keep the eyes in place and the nose area you can completely redesign the rest to create your own favorite characters.
