My Easter basket ideas will show you how to make a gorgeous homemade baskets
from colored card. These handmade baskets are great craft idea to make with the
kids. The project is easy to adapt for other occasions as well.
Weaving with card or paper is very versatile and can be used to make a
whole range of things. Once you have made one and seen how it's done you
can experiment with lots of different ideas. Try making a pen pot or a box, once you have your woven sheets you can use them just like a piece of card.
Cut both A4 sheets of paper into 1cm (1/2") strips
Tape 6 strips of the same color to your working surface to help keep them secure.
Start to weave the strips of the other color through the ones taped
Position the woven strips so that the taped strips are roughly in the center.
Continue until you have used 14 strips.
This will give you a basket with 4 strips at each side and 4 strips across the bottom.
Add 2 more blue strips above and below those already taped in place.
Cut 5 blue strips in half and thread 5 half lengths through the middle 4 yellow strips as in the photo.
Repeat the process on the other side.
The strips should be cut width ways so that they are the length of the shorter side of the A4 paper.
Try different effects by using different sized strips or more than 2 colors.
