Homemade Easter baskets is the third page in a series of instructions on how to make baskets from colored card. If you want to start at the beginning, you can find the first page of instructions at Easter basket ideas.
Card weaving is a very versatile craft and can easily be adapted to make
a whole range of items. I have also included some other craft ideas
that you can make with woven
If you want to use paper cut the paper two or three times wider than you want your strips to be. Then fold the paper over two or three times to make it stronger.
Your basket is almost complete. We now need to add the handle.
Take 2 strips in one color. Cut short strips from the other strip.
These strips should be about 2.5cm (1") in length and you will need about 16 of them.
Tape down the 2 longer strips.
Weave with the shorter strips as before but glue them in place as you work.
Once the handle has dried trim the edges.
Apply glue to the ends of the handle as in the photo.
Glue the handles to the inside of the basket to finish.
Weaving with card is a great way to make decorative baskets or pots.
Once the card strips have been woven and all the edges glued in place the card can be used as any other sheet of card.
You will need to be extra careful when cutting out shapes.
Make sure you glue the edges together as you go so your weaving doesn't come apart.
