This gorgeous pumpkin suncatcher is a great Halloween project for you to try. It will look fantastic hanging in front of a safe light source such as an LED lamp or flameless candle.
The templates is outlined in black so you can print it on to white paper or card and then cut it from black card.
I know how expensive printer ink can be so I try to keep the costs down as much as possible.
The dots on the template indicate the areas that need to be cut out.
Printing the template on thin card (if your printer allows this) will give you a template that can be used over and over again.
Most printers will allow you to print directly on to thin card. If you are using patterned card make sure that you print on the plain side. If your printer will only allow you to print on paper then there are a couple of different ways to transfer the template to card.
One way is to glue the paper template to the card you can use any type of glue suitable for paper. Spread the glue thinly across the card then lower the paper on top. Smooth out carefully removing any air bubbles. Make sure the glue is completely dry before cutting.
The other way will only work if you are printing a template that is easy to reproduce. Secure the paper to the card with tape, using a pencil and
ruler if drawing straight lines, go over the lines on the template. Press hard enough to mark the
card but not so hard you make holes in the paper.
To create the template, print the designs onto white card or paper and cut away all the dotted areas.
This is a lot easier to do with a sharp knife rather than scissors.
Do not cut along all the solid lines as you want the pumpkin to stay fixed in the circle.
Lastly cut around the outside of the circle.
Fix the templates to your chosen black card or paper using paperclips.
Use a pencil to draw around all the cut out areas, lift the template occasionally to make sure you can see the pencil marks on the black card/paper.
Don't forget to draw around the outer circle too.
Remove the template from the card.
Once done your black card should look like the card in the image.
Now place the template on your tissue paper. Fix it in place carefully using the paper clips.
Draw around the outside circle of the template.
Cut the circle out of the tissue paper.
Cut away the marked areas on the black card.
Use a clear glue all over the back of the cut out.
Carefully stick the tissue paper to the back of the cut out.
Add a piece of string or ribbon to the top of the pumpkin.
Try to place it so it's behind the 'stalk' of the image.
That way it won't show when the pumpkin is lit from the back.
You can make several of these pumpkin suncatchers using different color tissue paper for a fantastic Halloween display.
Position in front of a flameless flickering candle for a great effect.

Here you will find a great tutorial on how to create a fabulous back ground screen for your Halloween outdoor decorations. These screens are easy to make and require no specialist equipment.
They are lit up by the light in your room and look great from outside. You could replace a tombstone with a black cat for a great Halloween scene.
