A pyramid paperweight makes a great gift - at the bottom of the page there are some easy gift ideas that show you how to personalize your pyramid paperweight.
They can be decorated in lots of different ways so can be made to match anyone's taste or decor.
You will find making paperweights easy with my free
printable templates and step-by-step instructions.
You can decorate your paper using one of our painting techniques.
It is easier to print the template directly on to your card first.
The printer may damage your paintwork, or if the paint is really thick you may damage your printer.
Most printers will allow you to print directly on to thin card. If you are using patterned card make sure that you print on the plain side. If your printer will only allow you to print on paper then there are a couple of different ways to transfer the template to card.
One way is to glue the paper template to the card you can use any type of glue suitable for paper. Spread the glue thinly across the card then lower the paper on top. Smooth out carefully removing any air bubbles. Make sure the glue is completely dry before cutting.
The other way will only work if you are printing a template that is easy to reproduce. Secure the paper to the card with tape, using a pencil and
ruler if drawing straight lines, go over the lines on the template. Press hard enough to mark the
card but not so hard you make holes in the paper.
The instructions for making paperweights are the same for both templates, type #2 just has an extra tab.
Cut out the template that you want to use and score along the fold lines on the card.
Put your weight material into the plastic and tie tightly to secure.
Place your weight inside the pyramid.
Using either glue or double-sided sticky tape.
Stick tab #1 to side #2. Continue with the rest of the tabs.
There are so many ways to finish your project to make it unique.
Choose one of my decorative printer paper designs.
Glue photos to each side then cut out thin card strips and fold along the middle, glue along each edge to frame the photos.
Glue on wool or string for a nice relief effect finish.
Use sticky ribbon for a quick and easy finish.
Cut out pictures from magazines and paint the paperweight to match the pictures. Grey roads for cars racing around the base. Blue with clouds or birds, green for flowers.
Write special dates on each side such as anniversaries or kids birthdays. Makes a great gift for Fathers day.
Photo’s of the kids on each side would make a great present for doting Grandparents.
Drawings or photo’s of favourite cartoon characters, animals or sport make great presents for kids.
You could make a plain white one and add a selection of old cards, pictures, wool and ribbon for the crafty person to finish off themselves.
